As Christmas rapidly approaches, there are still a few events in the area to celebrate this most wonderful time of the year followed by some fantastic events to celebrate the New Year’s!

KIDS CRAFTERNOON
Children ages 5 and up are invited to create their own no-bake cinnamon ornaments Wednesday, Dec. 20, 4 p.m., at Octavia Fields Branch Library, 1503 South Houston, Humble. HOLIDAY CRAFT WORKSHOP
Crafters of all skill levels are invited to spend an afternoon making holiday crafts Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m., at Big Stone Lodge, Dennis Johnston Park, 709 Riley Fuzzel Road, Spring. TEEN SNOWBALL FIGHT IV: SNOWPOCALYPSE
Can you survive the Snowpocalypse? Come to the Atascocita Branch Library, 19520 Pinehurst Trail Dr., Atascocita, and join in the annual teen snowball fight Thursday, Dec. 21, 3 p.m., followed by hot cocoa, cookies and a holiday movie. Permission slips are required for the snowball fight.


LIVE NATIVITY
A live nativity has been a part of advent for many years at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood. Enjoy this beautiful event Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 21-23 in the evening. See the creche, hear the nativity story and see the children dressed splendidly as a king or humbly as a shepherd. GAMER’S NEW YEAR’S EVE EVE EVE
Thursday, Dec. 28, 6 p.m. Gamer’s New Year’s Eve Eve Eve. Teens can celebrate New Year’s Eve a few days early with games Thursday, Dec. 28, at 6 p.m. Atascocita Branch Library, 19520 Pinehurst Trail Dr., Humble, will have gaming and at 7 p.m., a really early 2018 countdown.


THIS IS KINGWOOD NEW YEAR FESTIVAL
On Saturday, Dec. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 31, Kingwood Town Center will be transformed into the biggest party this side of the San Jacinto for two days. Saturday will be family oriented with live music, food trucks, rides for the kids, a huge vendor market, special appearances from Disney characters, New Year’s party favors and more. Sunday, the park will open at 2 p.m. with four, huge, themed (heated, floored and enclosed) tents, including the Disco Inferno tent, the Great Gatsby tent, the Fast Times ‘80s tent and the Raging ‘50s tent. Come dressed in one of those themes or in your New Year’s best. There will be champagne toasts at midnight, live music on the main stage, a special DJ in each tent, and catered meals courtesy of the best from across the Lake Houston area. Each tent will have its own cash bar and finger food options as well as craft beers, courtesy of some of our favorite brewers from across the area. There will be special VIP table reservations and VIP perks and bottle service. The night will finish with a huge fireworks display over Kingwood Town Center.


NEW YEAR’S EVE WORSHIP
First United Methodist Church Humble, 800 E. Main St., will conduct a joint Sunday worship New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. Because many people are out of town and traveling during the holiday season, both worship services will meet together for a joint service to worship together and prepare for the new year. NEW YEAR’S DAY SCAVENGER HUNT
New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at noon, the planned fifth annual Scavenger Hunt will begin in some of the greenbelts. This is a nonprofit activity for Kingwood residents; families and children are encouraged to participate.
