Rosemary Wise Beard was born on October 5, 1916 in Vinita, OK to parents John A. Wise and Sylvia Perry Wise. She passed away on February 8, 2017 at the age of 100.
Rosemary attended Vinita High School where she was very involved in school activities, and was on the first string of the girls basketball team. From an early age, she studied dancing, both in Vinita and Tulsa, and regularly performed at civic clubs and organizations. Throughout her life, she studied and maintained an interest in interior design, painting and photography. Because of her husband Bill’s many transfers, she had the opportunity to study painting from a number of teachers in the U.S. and Europe.
Rosemary was a Kingwood resident for 38 years. As a member of the Kingwood Country Club she actively pursued two of her other passions, golf and bridge. For many years, she was a member of a book club and the Kingwood Photo Club.
Once, along with a birthday gift, her husband presented her with a plaque, which read:
“In recognition of 37 years of being a loving wife, a faithful companion, a good sport, an exemplary homemaker, a chef extraordinaire, a caring mother, a dog’s best friend and other attributes too numerous to list in this small space.”
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill; her daughter Carolyn Monroe of Kingwood, TX; and son Jon Monroe and wife Siobhan of Melbourne, FL.
The celebration of Rosemary’s life was held on February 13, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, with Dr. Jim Davis. Senior Pastor Officiating.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers a memorial gift may be made to: First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, 5520 Kingwood Dr., Kingwood, TX 77345 or to a charity of your choice.
