The Humble Army JROTC held their Military Ball on April 21 at the Walden Country Club. The cadets, dressed in their finest, gathered for dinner, awards and dancing. U.S. Rep. Judge Ted Poe, as well as several other dignitaries, spoke to the cadets. The program underwent their first formal inspection this year and they received the highest designation, Honor Unit with Distinction. They recently participated in their final competition and performed many community service projects throughout the year. Pictured is Cadet Lt. Col. Heather Schwalbach, outgoing Battalion Commander, receiving a Young American Award from the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, presented by Lt. Col Robert Rohm. Cadet 1st Sgt. Christopher Ruis received an award for Top Academic Cadet of the Year. Because some events are held in conjunction with the Scouts, the corps is also considered a Scout troop. Three other cadets were also honored with the Young American Award. They are Cadet Command Sgt. Maj. Amanda Brown, Cadet Maj. Monica Lara (Executive Officer) and Cadet Sgt. 1st Class Charles Stimpson (Platoon Sergeant). Photo by Isaac Sanchez
