Kingwood’s Atria Assisted Living at 2401 Green Oak Dr. was the scene of a well-received tribute to its 14 senior military veterans on Tuesday, March 28. Many decorated younger veterans, male and female – including two lady veterans from Congressman Ted Poe’s office, Tonia Horn and Amy Harrison – came to support the happy gathering of more than fifty folks.

Uncle Sam (John Wistar Evans, IV) and “Lady Liberty” were the residents’ most popular visitors for photographs and interviews. Principal speaker was retired Air Force pilot, Lt. Col. John Heimburger of Atascocita, who painted a verbal picture of veterans and veterans’ wives who played an equally important role in the defense of our nation while husbands were waging war across the globe.

Activities Director Angie Edmonds said, “A unique and wonderful 90 minutes was had by all involved, especially when the Blue Bell was rolled out at the conclusion of the gathering.”

Kingwood's Atria Senior Living facility hosted a program celebrating veterans who served their country.
