Liam Williams and Ryan Heffelfinger along with community runners show their support for the Kingwood High School Marching Band at the Band on the Run 5K/10K.

Kingwood Band Boosters has announced that their 5th annual Band on the Run 5K/10K fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 8 a.m. “We are really excited to bring Band on the Run back to the fall this year,” said BOTR Chair Dr. Diana Blessman. “The new September date is perfect for avid runners working to qualify for the Chevron Houston Marathon, as well as for community members wishing to support the Kingwood High School Marching Band.”

This certified, sanctioned and chip timed run through the scenic greenbelts of Kingwood is organized by the 501(c)(3) charity, Kingwood Band Boosters, to benefit the Kingwood High School Mighty Mustang Military Marching Band (KM4B). KM4B is an extraordinary group of high school students dedicated to personal growth and achievement. Comprised of about 200 students and growing, the band has proudly represented our community with performances at the Rose Bowl Parade, Lincoln Center, Pearl Harbor, and even Carnegie Hall.

Unfortunately, the school district’s budget does not fund everything needed to operate this organization of committed, young musicians. Monies raised by Band on the Run sponsorship donations and registration fees will help cover the expense of “extras” like: music instruments, clinicians, and shelves for the new equipment trailer.

Registration for the fun run is now open online at www.TheDriven.net/BandontheRun. Businesses wishing to support the Kingwood High School marching band can also find sponsorship forms at this site.

“Early registrants will receive a Band on the Run commemorative t-shirt,” added Dr. Blessman, “and there will also be prizes for the fastest male and female runners in both the 5K and the 10K categories!”
