When it comes to serving the district, Martina has worn many hats. She has served on the executive board for the Humble ISD Council of PTA’s 2013-14; as a delegate for the Humble ISD Council of PTA’s 2010-2014; the PTA Council Scholarship Chair 2012-14; Greentree Elementary PTA Board as the Legislative Chair 2010-2014; she headed the planning committee to reinstate the PTSA in 2012-13; and then became the Humble High School PTSA President 2013-2014; a greeter at Creekwood Middle School 2011-13; Grant Prize Posse; attended Rally Day in Austin twice to discuss education issues with our State Senators and State Representatives on behalf of the Humble ISD Council of PTA’s; and much more.

Martina Lemond Dixon is a native Houstonian, and has lived in Kingwood for 18 years. She is married to Scott Dixon, and they have four children, Cassidy, a sophomore at Howard University in DC, and a graduate of Humble High School’s IB Program; Alec, an 11th grader at Humble High School; and Sydney and Ian both attend Creekwood Middle School in grades 8 and 6, respectively.

Martina has her BA in Communications from Auburn University, her Post Baccalaureate in Construction Management in Engineering from LSU, and she received her Texas teacher certification from the University of St. Thomas.

Currently, Martina serves on the Humble ISD Education Foundation Board of Directors, as the Treasurer, Finance Committee Chair, and on the Grant Review Committee. She is also a member of the district’s Dream Team Education Task Force, which is a group collectively sharing ideas on a community-wide vision for the portrait of a graduate.

For four years, the Dixon family lived abroad in Abu Dhabi, UAE, while maintaining their residence in Kingwood. During this time, Martina was elected to the Board of Trustees at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi, which is affiliated with the U.S. State Department. While on the school board, Martina served as board secretary, curriculum chair, and communications chair. For school board leadership training, Martina attended NESA Leadership Conferences with the U.S. Office of Overseas Schools in Amman, Jordan, and in Athens, Greece.

From 2008-12, Martina served on the Board of Directors for Cherish Our Children International, COCI, based in Houston. She served on this 17- member board, which is an international charity that develops and funds programs and projects that provide a brighter future for the world’s most vulnerable children. COCI has programs in the United States, Serbia, Ethiopia, and Mexico.

Martina has 10 years teaching experience, eight of which were at North Shore High School in Galena Park ISD, where she attended high school. During her tenure at NSHS she was the newspaper and yearbook advisor, she served on the site-based decision making committee, and she twice received the highly coveted Diamond Award, where students in the Top 5% in the district select one teacher who made the greatest impact on their lives from K-12th grades.

In the community, Martina is a member of the Humble-Kingwood Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc, she is a member of the Kings Trail Chapter of NCL, she was the Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class President in 2013-14, and she is member of the Association for Learning Environments.

The Dixon family are members of St. Martha Catholic Church in Kingwood, and Lakewood Church in Houston.
