In this post-apocalyptic film, Eli (Denzel Washington) has been traveling west through the desert for thirty years while guarding a book he feels is the key to save humanity. Carnegie (Gary Oldman), the oppressive leader of a small town, knows the book Eli carries can further broaden his power to greater heights. Carnegie and his followers pursue Eli and the book, trying to do whatever it takes until they get a hold of it.
