Chamber holds annual ball

Monday, January 25, 2010

Anne McIlhany

The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Chairman’s Ball, held last Friday at the Houston Airport Marriott, was an evening of celebration and recognition of hard working chamber members.

Chamber board chair Jason Medley of O’Donnell, Ferebee, Medley & Keiser, PC was honored for his dedication to the chamber during his term of leadership, and the “gavel was passed” onto 2010 Chairman Leon Brashier of Mortgage Express.

Brashier spoke of his pride in the organization, and noted that the recent name change, from “Humble Area Chamber” to “Lake Houston Chamber” was a reflection of the growing community.

Other chamber members honored included Tom Cook, who started the weekly farmer’s market that takes place every Wednesday on Main Street in Humble; Lisa Niccum, chair of membership; and Dave Kilby, who was named Ambassador of the Year.

The highlight of the evening was the naming of the H.E. McKay, M.D. Citizen of the Year award winner, Dr. Guy Sconzo.

The festive evening included a silent and live auction that included a sailboat cruise, Lasik surgery and a Rockets suite for 12.
