Press Release

Four talented artists affiliated with The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake were chosen from among hundreds of applicants to collaborate with the Design Team of the Emmy-award winning reality show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The show, which airs Sunday nights on ABC, stars nine master designers, including Michael Moloney, Paige Hemmis, Tracy Hutson, and its most well-known celebrity woodworker, Ty Pennington. The work created by Jim Phillips, Jeremy Grubb, and Jenifer Sunderla will be seen on camera when the show airs in March. The TAACCL artists involved with the project are: Woodworker Jim Phillips, who is known in Galveston and the Bay Area for his beautiful wood sculptures using wood from trees downed by Hurricane Ike. His work has been commissioned by the City of Galveston and can be seen in public areas on the island as well as in the yards of private homeowners. Extensive photos of his work can be seen on his flickr site: http://www.flickr.com/photos/30568313@N03/.

Woodworker and furniture designer Jeremy Grubb, whose work can be seen at www.jjhgwoodworks.com.

Friendswood High School art teacher Jenifer Sunderla, whose work can be seen at www.thepaintedpearbyjen.com.

Jewelry designer Sabine Stromeyer, whose work can be seen at www.sabinestromeyer.com.

The artists are available for interviews, and can speak in general terms about their experiences. They are available for pictures, and photos of their other artwork can be used. Photos and information about the specific details of their work on this project will be provided when the show airs in March.
