HPD Press Release
At 1 p.m. TODAY (Tuesday, September 2), the Houston Police Department will join the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Houston Fire Department to announce the agencies’ participation in the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign as part of the Pink Ribbon Tour. The news conference will take place at 3815 Westheimer (Central Market store).
The Pink Ribbon Tour is a group of firefighters, police officers, and community leaders that have joined together to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The tour began in Phoenix, Arizona on August 24, 2008 and will arrive in Houston on September 2, at 10 a.m. where they will also participate in the afternoon press conference. The Guardians of the Pink Ribbon are driving a pink fire truck 10,000 miles across America through 32 cities, spreading the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign.
The “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign and the Houston Police Department encourages all city employees to wear pink on October 25, 26, and 27, 2008 to demonstrate support in the fight against this deadly disease.
