Farm to Market Restaurant is coming to Kingwood

Monday, January 14, 2013

By Carolyn McCraw

Farm to Market Restaurant hopes to bring a unique dining option to the Lake Houston area. This full-service restaurant will feature family-style dinners prepared with all the freshest ingredients for both dining in or carry-out. Farm to Market Restaurant is focused on getting closely involved with the community and reaching out to groups, clubs and charities. “Farm to Market to me means family. It says come on in and sit down and kick your feet up, but still get the higher class of food you won’t get at a typical mom and pop shop,” said Austin LeBlanc, general manager. The menu choices are plentiful. From the garden there are a multitude of salads to choose from with dressings prepared in house. A variety of appetizers and soups are available. Family farm packs are available, served family style with a choice of two sides and designed to feed four. The main focus is that everything on the menu is local: the produce, baked goods and cheese. “We pride ourselves in putting our money back into the local farming community. Our goal is to exceed expectations through food and service with consistency and confidence. You will fall in love with our food; it’s as if your mother made it,” said LeBlanc. Currently, owner Stephan Perry and his team are working to secure consistent produce, dairy and meat vendors. The Farm to Market Restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who wants home-style cooking and a good atmosphere for family and friends. Chef Gavin Garcia has worked at various establishments in the industry and he will exhibit his exceptional culinary skills at Farm to Market. There is a combination of hearty contemporary and classic comfort, Southern cooking. One can choose from fried green tomatoes to blackened salmon to homemade broccoli cheddar soup. “This restaurant is an extension of your kitchen,” said LeBlanc. “You can call it home.” The restaurant is expected to open in early February, according to the website, following a magnificent renovation to the currently unoccupied space at 1522 Kingwood Drive.
