Pct. 4 arrests suspect over fraudulent vehicle inspections

On Nov. 6, 2012, the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Emissions Task Force executed a felony arrest and search warrant at Myco Muffler located at 9600 Blk of Hollock, Houston, 77075. The location is an Auto Repair Shop and State licensed vehicle inspection station which was allegedly conducting numerous fraudulent vehicle inspections using a procedure called "clean scanning." The suspect was observed fraudulently issuing State Emissions Inspections Certificates to vehicles that were not actually present at the location to receive the State mandated emissions test. Upon executing the arrest and search warrant, one female suspect was arrested and charged with 2 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Tampering with a Government Record. One vehicle and one emissions analyzer machine was seized as evidence in this

case.

The New Emissions Task Force was created as a result of grant funding made available to Harris County from the Texas Commission on Environmental quality Local Initiative Project.
