A 16-year-old Kingwood High School student died Friday night in a single-vehicle wreck in Kings Point that the Houston Police Department believe was the result of speeding. The juvenile male victim's identity has not been released but police reported that he was driving a silver Saturn Vue at about 11:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Willow Terrace Drive when he lost control of the SUV, left the road and hit a tree. According to HPD spokesperson Jodi Silva, the car was split in half when emergency responders arrived. The victim was a junior at KHS and on the golf team, according to a woman who said her son was classmates with the him. This particular stretch of Willow Terrace is no stranger to fatal accidents, past police reports show. In 1998, a driver racing another car down Willow Terrace lost control and struck a tree, killing the passenger. In 2001, Kingwood doctor Kevin McDaid was killed driving his Jaguar southbound in the 1800 block of Willow Terrace after he struck a pole and two trees.
