The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) men's basketball team signed Atascocita High School graduate Bridge Lavey to its 2012-13 squad.
The Saints finished last season as the Red River Athletic Conference regular season champions with a 21-3 record and 27-8 overall. The team was runner-up in the conference tournament and qualified for the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, where they made it to the Sweet 16 round.
Lavey played all four years on the varsity basketball team at Atascocita. The 6'6" forward is described as a player who works hard to better himself academically, as well as athletically.
During Atascocita's 2011-12 season, Lavey scored a season-high 26 points against Sam Houston and averaged 12 points per game, earning his name on the District 14-5A All-District team.
"Bridge played in one of the toughest districts in the state of Texas and had a great individual season," said Saints' basketball coach Russell Vanlandingham. "He is a perfect fit at the small forward position and has a high basketball IQ. I'm excited that he is joining our program this year."
The Saints will begin their season in November.
