Humble Police officer indicted for excessive force

Thursday, July 29, 2010

A seven-year veteran with the Humble Police Department was issued a misdemeanor indictment by a Harris County grand jury for official oppression July 20.

Officer Frank Saye was accused of the use of unnecessary force during an arrest in a written complaint received by the Humble Police Department in April. The complaint was immediately investigated by Humble PD Internal Affairs and was found to be sustained.

Humble Police Chief Gary Warman terminated Officer Saye from his position in May.

“When the complaint came in, I took him off the street,” said Warman. “Once I reviewed the case I made the decision to terminate.”

As of now, Saye is free on a $1,000 bond and could not be reached for comment.

“It's a tragic event, but the Humble Police Department does not condone or accept use of excessive force on citizens,” said Warman.
